Laurence Sterne (1713–1768) is represented here by 2 public-domain titles, including A Sentimental Journey Through France and Italy and The life and opinions of Tristram Shandy, gentleman. This page is a shelf list: the books are read on Open Library, not stored here.
A Sentimental Journey Through France and Italy stays with the Reverend Mr. Yorick on a picaresque journey through France, narrated from a sentimental point of view. A Sentimental Journey Through France and Italy was planned as a four-volume work, but Sterne died in 1768 with only the first two volumes published; Yorick never makes it to Italy.
The life and opinions of Tristram Shandy, gentleman purports to be a memoir, but the titular Tristram is an effusive and digressive narrator who begins the story with his conception and does not reach a description of his birth until the third volume.
