Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert ask for a boy from the orphanage and receive Anne Shirley. She talks, imagines, and slowly makes herself necessary to Avonlea.

About the author

Montgomery’s Anne Shirley talks her way into a Prince Edward Island household and then into a long series. The first book is the one in this catalog: a portrait of imagination under other people’s rules. More of this shelf for L. M. Montgomery.
